Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on November announced the departure date of Delhi to Ayodhya special train under Delhi government’s Tirth Yatra Yojana, which will allow senior citizens to travel the Ram Janmbhoomi for free of cost.

Earlier in October, Kejriwal had announced the Mukhyamantri Tirth Yatra Yojana, under the free pilgrimage scheme, which will allow senior citizens belonging from Delhi will have a darshan of Shri Ram Lalla.

Delhi CM and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal said that the firts train will leave on December 3 and the registrations have started for the Tirth Yatra Yojana.The government has arranged this facility for free of cost, under this scheme pilgrims will get to visit Vaishno Devi, Shirdi, Rameswaram, Dwarka, Puri, Haridwar, Rishikesh, Mathura, Vrindavan, and other sites, and the city government will bear all the costs, from food, accommodations to travel fare.

The Delhi government had launched the free pilgrimage scheme in 2019, but it was halted due to corona virus spread in our country. People older than 60 years and their attendants will be provided free pilgrimage every year.

Senior citizens, who want to avail this free scheme, will have to issue certificates from the MLAs of their respective areas. The ministers and chairman of the Tirth Yatra Yojana committee, are also issuing the certificates.

Those who want to register for this scheme must be the citizen of Delhi, while issuing the certificates pilgrims have to bring their Delhi voter identity cards for verification. Facilities like paramedical staff and attendants will be provided during the journey. One attendant aged 21 or more is allowed to accompany the traveller, the Delhi government will bear the expanses of the attendants too.
