20 years after the mega release of Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, Sunny Deol on Friday took Twitter to announce the sequel of his 2001 blockbuster. After two decades, the duo of Tara Singh and Sakeena is set to reunite for the sequel. Helmed by Anil Sharma, Gadar 2 will feature Sunny Deol and Sakeena aka Ameesha Patel. Gadar 2 will also star Utkarsh Sharma – son of director Anil Sharma – who played the son of Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, in the lead role alongside Sunny Deol.

Based on partition-drama, Gadar is the story of Tara Singh, a Sikh who falls in love with a Muslim girl, Sakeena. It was in June of 2001 when Gadar created a storm at theatres and ruled the hearts of many people. The movie broke many records with its insane box-office collection and has established itself as a cult classic after two decades of its release. Late Amrish Puri, who played the role of Ashraf Ali can never be forgotten for his memorable role.
