Jantar Mantar case: Accused Pinky Chaudhary surrenders amid a sea of fawning supporters

The Hindu Raksha Dal chief Pinky Chaudhary, who were absconding in an inflammatory anti-Muslim sloganeering case at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, surrendered on Tuesday.

For surrendering himself, Chaudhary came to the Mandir Marg police station on the shoulders of his supporters who can be heard chanting slogans like long live Pinky Chaudhary in the video which is viral now.

A video of his surrender is rounding on social media in which he was accompanied by thousands of his supporters.

Releasing a video on Monday, Chaudhary had said that he will surrender himself to Delhi Police on Tuesday. In the video, he had also claimed that the charges against him are false and baseless. He had not said anything wrong, Chaudhary had said.

On August 8, hundreds of people had attended the protest organised by the Bharat Jodo Aandolan and Pinky Chaudhary was one of them.

A video showing anti-Muslim slogans being raised during a protest at Jantar Mantar was widely circulated on social media earlier, following which Delhi Police had registered a case against unknow persons.

After that the accused have been identified as Uttam Upadhyay, Ashwini Upadhyay, Preet Singh, Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar, Vinod Sharma, Vinit Bajpai and Sushil Tiwari. However, the police have arrested eight people in connection with the anti-Muslim sloganeering at Jantar Mantar.

Preet Singh is the director of ‘Save India Foundation’ while Deepak Singh, Deepak Kumar and Vinod Sharma are associated with different Right-wing organisations and Sushil Tiwari is Hindu Army chief.

Earlier on Friday, the Delhi High Court had refused to grant interim protection from arrest of Pinky Chaudhary. Earlier this month, a sessions court had dismissed his anticipatory bail application, saying that India is not Taliban.

Meanwhile, Pinky Chaudhary had been absconding since the incident. Investigations so far have revealed that a total of 8 cases have been registered against Pinky Chaudhary in Noida and Ghaziabad.

In other India News, A 16-year-old minor was raped by five men, including a minor, in the Jayal police station area of Nagaur district in Rajasthan.
