Mizoram News: Enough medicine to fight Covid, Governor for border calm, Nehru Yuva Kendra on August 15

Mizoram Health Minister Dr R. Lalthangliana reviewed the Covid-19 scenario in the state in a meeting on August 12. Officials told him that Mizoram is currently in a good state in terms of health infrastructure and medicines. It mentioned that the state has enough stock of Rapid Antigen Test, which will be sufficient for the next two weeks and Viral transport Medium for 5 months. Meanwhile the state will receive another consignment of RT-PCR test kits from ICMR, 20,000 more RNA extraction kits from Delhi and 1,000 RNA extractions are dispatched from Guwahati, they said. Testing of samples in Zoram Medical College, which was interrupted due to insufficient supply of test kits, is expected to get normal in the next few days.

Assam, Mizoram need to maintain calm along border: Governor Mishra

Newly-appointed Governor Dr B.D. Mishra has begun interacting with top officials of various departments at Raj Bhavan on August 12. The officials briefed the Governor on the current situation in the state, apart from the border issue with Assam. Mishra suggested routine engagements of Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police in the border districts frequently and said the states of Assam and Mizoram should maintain calm and avoid conflict at any cost. No bullets should be fired again in connection with this border dispute, he added.

The Governor also expressed his confidence in the success and effort made by the Government of Mizoram on containing the pandemic. However, he advised the Health Department to keep on improving the stocks of Oxygen and Covid-19 treatment medicines, ventilators, manpower, number of beds, dedicated Covid-19 hospitals, vaccinations and other Covid-19 fighting equipment. Lastly, he spoke on the critical importance of finishing the Kaladan Multi-Modal Transit Transport Project as early as possible further; he illustrated the importance of this project for Mizoram as it would serve as the only alternate lifeline other than the National Highway 306 and agreed to extend a helping hand, if required.

Nehru Yuva Kendra Champhai’s plan ahead of August 15

Honouring the heroes of the freedom struggle and to mark the completion of 75 years of Independence, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) of Champhai has started celebrating the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav involving various activities like organizing Cleanliness Fortnight from August 1 to 15.  The NYKS Champhai is also planning to organise FIT INDIA Freedom Run on August 14 both at district and village level strictly following all Covid appropriate behaviour. Meanwhile, Dinesh Jangid, District Youth Offficer, requested the youth, youth leaders, community leaders and Young Mizo Association leadership to encourage people to participate actively and make a mark of national honour, pride and unity stepping towards better, healthy and Fit India.
