Shilpa Shetty issues statement on husband Raj Kundra’s arrest, says they don’t deserve media trial

Actor Shilpa Shetty on Monday issued a statement on her businessman husband Raj Kundra’s arrest in a case related to making pornographic content. Shetty said that there have been a lot of rumors, and accusations and alleged that unwarranted aspersions have been cast on her.

We don’t deserve a media trial. Please let the law take its course.
Satyamev Jayate!, Shetty wrote on her social media.

The 46-year-old actress said that a lot of trolling/questions have been posed, not only to her but her family too.

Shetty wrote: MY STAND… I HAVE NOT COMMENTED YET and will continue to refrain from doing so on this case as it is subjudice, so please stop attributing false quotes on my behalf. Reiterating my philosophy of, as a celebrity “Never complain, never explain”. All I will say is, as it’s an ongoing investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary, Shetty said in the statement.

As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same, the Hungama 2 actress said.

Shilpa Shetty said she is a proud law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in her and she has never let anyone down.

So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times, Shetty added.

Raj Kundra, 45 was arrested on July 19 by Mumbai Police in the case involving the production of pornographic content and uploading it via the app. He was booked under IPC sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
