India on Sunday has witnessed over 4 lakh fresh Covid cases, 4,092 Covid-19 related deaths in the last 24 hours, which is the highest spike since the pandemic has begun. The country’s covid related death toll reached 2,42,362 with 37,36,648 active cases in the country.

India on Saturday has witnessed 4,01,078 fresh Covid-19 cases and 4.14 lakh Covid Cases on Friday.

According to the health ministry data, 1,83,17,404 people have recovered from coronavirus while 16,94,39,663 persons have been vaccinated in the country against the Covid-19 infection.

There are top five states in the country that have witnessed the highest Covid cases in the past 24 hours are Maharashtra with 56,578 caseload, followed by Kerala with 41,971 caseload, Tamil Nadu with 27,397 caseload  Karnataka with 47,563 caseload and Uttar Pradesh with 26,636 caseload. The highest covid related deaths reported in Maharashtra with 864 deaths in the last 24 hours, followed by Karnataka with 482 deaths.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray raised a concern about CoWin app that has faced glitches earlier due to rising the number of people registering for vaccination, Thackeray has written to the Central government seeking permission to develop a separate app for COVID-19 vaccination in the state. He said there is a constant fear about the app crashing as it did on day 1 of registrations for the 18-44 age group.

Thackeray said the state is facing major problem of vaccine supplies, if the state can procure vaccines from different vaccines manufacturers across the world, it would speed up vaccination and it will reduce the impact of Covid third wave, Mahrashtra CM said.

According to the Central government, Global aid 3,856 oxygen cylinders, of 6,608 oxygen concentrators, 4,330 ventilators, 14 oxygen plants and over 3 lakh Remdesivir covid drug have been dispatched to states and union territories to fight against coronavirus.
