Happy Holi 2021: PM Modi, President Kovind, Union Ministers Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh, and others extend greetings, urge revellers to follow Covid-19 guidelines

On the occasion of Holi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President Ram Nath Kovind, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and several other politicians extended their greetings to the nation on Monday.

In a tweet, Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished for everyone that this Festival of joy, happiness, laughter, and glee infuses new vigour and energy in their life.

President Kovind also greeted all fellow citizens on Holi, wishing that the festival strengthens the spirit of nationalism. He wrote, the festival of colours, Holi, is a festival of social harmony which brings about joy, delight, and hope in the lives of people. May this festival further strengthen the spirit of nationalism which is integral to our cultural diversity.

While Union Minister Shah wished that the festival brings peace and good luck to all. He tweeted, hearty greetings to all the countrymen on the auspicious occasion of Holi. May this great festival of colour, unity, and goodwill bring happiness, peace, and good luck to all of you.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh tweeted, Greetings to everyone on the occasion of Holi. May this festival of colours bless you with happiness, health and prosperity. 

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath stressed the importance of following Covid-19 protocols on the occasion of Holi. In a video message, the chief minister restated the social distancing norms in view of rapidly surging coronavirus cases in the country. 

While calling the festival of colours a symbol of the diversity of India, Former Congress president Rahul Gandhi also urged everyone to follow Covid-19 guidelines ensuring safety in his Holi greetings. 

Fearing the rise in coronavirus infections in the country, several state governments and Union Territories have imposed a number of restrictions on the public celebration of the Holi festival and Shab-e-Baraat. The public celebrations of Holi have been banned in Haryana, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Uttarakhand.

Besides these states, Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Odisha, and Chandigarh have imposed restrictions on Holi gathering. The state government has advised people to celebrate Holi at home this time.

In the last few months, many mutations have taken place in the coronavirus in the country. The nation is facing the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic with daily caseload crossing 50,000-mark as reported from three days before Holi 2021.
