At over Rs 4.5 lakh, Benelli Leoncino 500 debuts in India

After the success of the Benelli Imperiale 400, Benelli India has launched the new BS6-compliant Benelli Leoncino 500 starting at Rs 4.59 lakh ex-showroom. The motorcycle looks a lot like the Imperiale 400 but its differences are also notable as is the engine.

The company has begun taking bookings for Leoncino 500. Customers can go to Benelli dealerships or Benelli India’s website, where they can pre-book the bike by giving token money of Rs 10,000.

The Italian motorcycle manufacturer introduced the Leoncino 500 with a markedly sporty look with a digital instrument cluster, and an all-LED setup. It runs on a BS6-compliant 500cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine.

The 2021 Benelli Leoncino 500 has an eye-catching design, featuring a sloping fuel tank, a flat-type seat, a pulled-back handlebar, and a rounded headlight as well as mirrors. It has a kerb weight of 207 kg and offers a 12.7-litre fuel tank.

Benelli Leoncino 500 will come with disc brakes on the front and rear wheels along with dual-channel ABS to avoid skidding.

Suspension duties on the motorcycle are taken care of by 50mm inverted telescopic forks on the front side and a mono-shock unit with adjustable preload on the rear end.

The Leoncino 500 is available in two colours, silver at Rs 4,59,900 while the red variant comes for Rs 4,69,900 (both prices, ex-showroom). The company is also offering a 3-year/unlimited km warranty on the motorcycle.

Leoncino 500 gets a BS6 compliant 500cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled petrol motor. It is capable of producing 46.8 bhp @ 8,500 RPM alongside a peak torque of 46Nm @ 6,000 RPM. Further, this engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox. Interestingly, even after the updates as per the emission norms, the performance figures remain the same.

The Benelli Leoncino 500 will find itself pitted against the Kawasaki Z650, Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and CFMoto 650NK; and the Bullet’s 500 cc iterations.
