Farmers continued their Protest against the farm laws on Sunday at Delhi Ghaziabad border refusing to move to Nirankari Bhavan in Burari. Bharatiya Kisan Union spokesperson Rakesh Tikait said they would not move to the private facility and would stay put. Due to the protest, commuters continued to face issues due to road blockade at Singhu border (Delhi-Haryana border).

Earlier, Home Minister Amit Shah had said Centre was ready to hold talks if farmers move to Nirankari ground — the approved site for the farmers’ protest. The home minister said if the farmers move to Burari to hold a peaceful protest, the Centre will hold talks with them before December 3. The Home minister said every problem and demand of the farmers will be looked into. The farmer unions have decided to call upon a meeting to discuss Shah’s offer and decide their next move.

On Saturday, some representatives of the farmers entered Delhi and took off their clothes and walked down in the capital raising slogans. The protesting farmers from Punjab and Haryana came to Delhi after massive showdown with the police at Haryana border. The police used water cannons and tear gas shells to control the agitated farmers

The farmers are protesting against the farm laws aimed at bringing reforms by doing away with middlemen. The new laws would allow them to sell their produce anywhere in the country. However, the farmers and opposition parties say the new laws would leave them at the mercy of the corporates. They are also apprehensive that the new laws could lead to government stopping the system of buying grain at guaranteed prices.

Meanwhile, Delhi police has said the farmers are now co-operating with cops. : Surendra Yadav, Joint CP, Northern Range, Delhi has said that out objective is to maintain law & order and making sure that the arrangements are in place to facilitate farmers’ movement.
