Former Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis tests positive for coronavirus

Former Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis has tested positive for coronavirus and had gone into isolation. In a tweet, Fadnavis has urged all those who have recently come in contact with him to get tested for Covid-19.

He tweeted on Saturday that he had been incessantly working since the coronavirus pandemic lockdown. He tested Covid-19 positive as the god wanted him to stop and take a break, wrote Fadnavis on Twitter, adding that he is taking all medications as advised by the doctor.

The ex-chief minister is in-charge of the crucial ongoing party’s poll campaign for assembly election in Bihar. During his hectic election campaign schedule, he has been reportedly travelling up and down from Maharashtra to Bihar for the past few weeks.

Few days back, the Bihar Deputy Chief Minister had announced that he contracted a highly infectious disease, just days after he held a joint campaign with present chief Minister Nitish Kumar in Buxar and Bhojpur.

Meanwhile, the three-phase assembly by-elections to the 243-member state of Bihar will begin from October 28. The second and the third phases will be held on November 3 and 7 respectively. The results will be announced on November 10.

So far, India on Saturday recorded over 53,000 new Covid-19 cases. The total caseload is now 78,14,682. The death toll is pushed to 1,17,956, according to the data from the Union Health Ministry.
