The Indian troopers’ retaliatory attack came a day after BSF jawan RP Hazra was killed during an unprovoked cross-border firing by the Pakistan.

In yet another anti-insurgency operation in Jammu and Kashmir, the Border Security Force (BSF) on Thursday killed an intruder along the International Border in Jammu district. Reportedly, the armed force at the border has also destroyed two Pakistani posts in retaliation to Wednesday’s unprovoked firing – which claimed the life of one jawan.

According to Ram Awtar – Inspector General of BSF, Jammu frontier – the Indian troopers observed movement of two-three people along the IB near Nikowal Border Out Post (BoP) in Arnia sector of the valley in the early hours of the day.

While the other intruders managed to escape, one among them was killed while the BSF challenged them and opened Fire.

According to a BSF spokesperson, “two Pakistani mortar positions were located, targeted and destroyed by BSF troopers yesterday night only. The coordinated precision fire of Bsf Troopers Silenced Pakistani guns”.

The Indian troopers’ retaliatory attack came a day after BSF jawan RP Hazra was martyred during an unprovoked cross-border firing by the Pakistani rangers in Samba sector of Jammu. While the attack marks as the first ceasefire violation of the year by the neighboring country, Indian armed force launched retaliatory fire since the violation.

In a separate violation of ceasefire, Pakistan also initiated firing and shelling at posts along the Line of Control (LoC) in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir last night. Reportedly, the exchange of fire along the border continued throughout the night.

“Post death of BSF trooper Head Constable R P Hazra from unprovoked fire by Pak forces on Jammu IB in Samba sector yesterday, the retaliation continued till late night. The unprovoked fire from Pakistan started first from small arms which later coupled with mortar shelling throughout the night,” said a BSF officer.

Further adding that the Border Security Forces consolidated, marked and located the position of the Pakistani firings and started precision targeted fire, the BSF official mentioned, “the coordinated precision fire of BSF troopers silenced Pak guns.”
