Bad news first, Gabrielle Union’s hit show, BET’s “Being Mary Jane” is coming to a close in 2018, ending with a two-hour movie in lieu of a fifth season.
The good news is that NBC just announced they’re going ahead with a “Bad Boys” spinoff, bringing Union back as Sydney “Syd” Barrett who played Martin Lawrence’s sister and Will Smith’s love interest in “Bad Boys II.”
No longer in the DEA, Syd is now with the LAPD and will be partnered with the still uncast, Nancy McKenna. The Executive Producer of the show is Jerry Bruckheimer who produced both the original “Bad Boys” films. Trade publications hinted something was in the works last October/ We now know that NBC has ordered a pilot.
While there’s no official title for the project. “Bad Girls” is the frontrunner in the opinion of many. The theme song writes itself as well.
“Bad girls, bad girls
Whatcha gonna do
Whatcha gonna do when they come for you”
