Top Used Sedans for Winter Driving

Tags: mazda car model

It’s not only crossovers that can handle snow and sleet. Sedans with the right features (including a good pair of snow tires) can also handle tough weather. You don’t need to buy a new sedan to drive in snowy conditions. Here are the top used sedans for winter weather:

Subaru Impreza

We love Subarus for handling rough terrain–and Subaru sedans are no exception. The Impreza comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) and great fuel economy, making it one of the top commuting cars for snowy climates. You can get the Impreza with torque vectoring, to make it easier to turn corners, along with EyeSight safety technology like blind-spot monitoring. And for drivers who hate driving in a cold car, you can filter your search for items like remote start and a climate package.

Tesla Model S

While there will soon be more electric vehicles available that can cut through snow easily, like the Toyota Prius AWD, when it comes to used electric vehicles, the Tesla Model S is a great choice for winter driving. The Model S also made our list for top commuting cars that can handle snowy weather. AWD comes standard on the 60D, 75D, and 90D trims, and range sits at 215 miles–plenty of juice to for your daily (snowy) commute.

Dodge Charger

Our reviewer loved the 2016 Dodge Charger and for good reason: Not only is the Charger our number one full-size sedan for 2016 used cars, but it can also work in a variety of climates. The Charger has 3-mode stability control as well as great grip, making it an ideal option for dashing through the snow. While the base model comes standard with rear-wheel drive (RWD), AWD is available. Just take a look at the Charger SXT.

BMW 3 Series

This used luxury sedan checks a few boxes: It comes with all-wheel drive (AWD) and a 6-speed manual, leading our reviewer to give the 2016 3 Series a 10/10 for performance. It also offers a cold weather technology package, which includes leather seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated front seats, to keep riders feeling comfortable, no matter the outside weather.

Mazda Mazda3

Mazda just made headlines at the LA Auto Show with its redesigned Mazda3. If you’ve got your sights set on Mazda, take a look a the 2016 Mazda3. Our reviewer gave the 2016 model a 10/10 for safety, which can provide peace of mind when embarking on snowy and icy roads. The 2016 Mazda3 includes a blind-spot monitor, forward-collision warning, and automatic emergency braking.

If you’re interested in more than one model, you can add cars to your search. Just scroll to the bottom of the listings page and look for the “Add Similar Cars” heading on the left-hand side.
