Allowing religiously affiliated contractors and grantees to discriminate against individuals who don’t adhere to an employer’s religious tenets, isn’t right or fair. This could affect an individual in a same-sex relationship, someone who is undergoing gender transition, or a woman who is pregnant and unmarried. To think that Congress could authorize this kind of taxpayer-funded discrimination is beyond the pale.”

NEW JERSEY. Cape May City council voted Tuesday to approve $369K payout to Steve Pascal, a gay former police officer: “Pascal will receive $193,000, while his attorney gets the rest. The draft settlement said Cape May agreed to pay $50,000, though the council says it might be on the hook for less…In addition to being subjected to a hostile work environment, Pascal alleged he was harassed and threatened by citizens in the quiet beach town. On one occasion, two men ‘threatened to snap his neck in a dark alley,’ the suit said.”
