Dishonest twitter campaign is not something new. Political campaign using twitter platform is massive in every corner of the world.

West Papua Blog calls for fact-checking of political campaign by both pro separatist Papua and pro Indonesia after observing so many fake news, disinformation, deceptive opinion, and misleading claims about what happened in West Papua.

For example: @freewestpapua published this fake news in their twitter account. Two other example are @veronicakoman and Vegan Thee , which use bots and buzzers to be seen as big influencer, within the last several months, Veronica Koman twitter follower increased dramatically beyond normal.

For example on 23 July 2020, @veronicakoman tweeted:

A West Papuan senator suggests Nduga people to seek asylum in PNG or Australia due to the armed conflict since late 2018.

“The thousands displaced are neglected and hundreds have died from hunger and sickness, or killed by Indonesian security forces.“

The first sentence is taken directly from local news Jubi, but the second sentence in italic is Miss Koman evil propaganda especially this part: ….hundreds have died from hunger and sickness, or killed by Indonesian security forces.

Why did Koman tweeted false information? Why she tried to create an image of brutal Indonesian security forces?

The fact that the complexity of problem in Nduga has caused internally displaced people (IDP) is known and has been reported by Indonesian and international newspaper. Media has also reported the poor condition of Nduga IDP. Connecting the case of Nduga IDP solely to Indonesian military is not only misleading but also has specific intention to blame the problem to military. Koman didn’t mention the role of Indonesian military to restore peace due to terror attack by Free West Papua armed criminal group and such operation only targeting armed criminal group.

Koman supported by her propaganda team produced countless evil propaganda against peace and harmony in West Papua, not to mention the oddity of share and like of Koman’s tweets, which may reflect bot and serious opinion construction operation.

I am not so sure what happened, but form Koman’s tweets and comments, she happily mentioned that Indonesia’s pattern of misinformation, disinformation and propaganda on the issue of Papua. The comments above which can be translated as support to Indonesia’s national integrity are shown as evidence by Koman of Indonesia’s intrusion. I am not sure whether Indonesia’s security so stupid or Koman is playing as victim.
