Blame Game

Let’s play the Blame game, I love you, more
Let’s play the blame game for sure
Let’s call out names, names, I hate you, more
Let’s call out names, names, for sure

I wish all conflicted parties in West Papua could sing let’s play the blame game, I LOVE YOU, more

I wish the blame game in West Papua is not moving towards deep hatred between those who support integration and those who want independence.

Many experts see the problem in West Papua as very complicated and difficult. That is why so many academics try to help making it even more difficult with so many different angles. Research, opinion articles, journal articles, and news on West Papua are dominated by narratives from supporters of West Papua separatists.

Using the term separatist can be seen as creating a stigmatisation of a certain group that campaigning for West Papua independence. I personally think that the term fits with the intention and end goal of such group. They may call themselves as freedom fighter, but in reality they are separatist. Yes, it is a matter from which angle we view the group. I wouldn’t mind if other scholars use the term whatever they want as long as they have an acceptable reason.

Back to the blame game. Isn’t it beautiful if LOVE and HATE within the blame game between separatist vs unionist can be harmonised in common interest to build better future for the next generation. First of all, all must stop the use of violence. Second, conflicted parties should start to sing together the blame game song. Sometime we hate someone with specific reason, but on other we may be able to see the kindness of the person that we hate and we change our hatred into love.

When you love someone, you put your trust in his/her hands. What happen if the one that you love betray you? You may feel so sad, you hate the person, or you let it go. But what if it was a misunderstanding? That is the saddest tragic story.

Separatist and unionist conflict is not unique to West Papua. It happens in many places in the world. All leaders of West Papuan separatist and pro unionist and also the government, should start talking each other without the use of violence. They must think about the next generation and not leaving a legacy of repetitious conflict. Walking or running around in a circle of violence is very tragic and unfortunate. West Papuans waste their time and neglecting the mission from the bible.

Galatians 5:13-14

For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word: “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.”

Let’s stop the blame game, you shall love your neighbor as yourself
Let’s stop the blame game for sure
Let’s serve one another, in the name of I love you
Let’s serve one another, in the harmony of our social relationship
