Miss Hongkong Carrie Lee

Carrie Lee is a great Role Model to look up to, both literally and figuratively. She is of Malaysian Chinese descent, and is known to be a great woman engaged in business, as well as an actress and a model.

When she was young, she was good at handball, and represented the Federal Territory at the sport. She was known to be a tough girl, and had a lot of qualities of a tomboy. She even stated that she rarely cried when she was a child. When she was nineteen years old, she entered the Miss Chinese Cosmos Beauty Pageant, representing Malaysia. She won the competition. However, a lot of people noted how she did not fluently spoke Chinese, and often stammered in the process of speaking. This was initially seen as a barrier for her to win. She proved her spectators wrong by winning the competition, but immediately took steps in order to remedy the predicament. She enrolled in the Chinese department of Jian University in order to become more fluent in the language.

Improvement was seen in her oral skills, especially when compared to how she conducted herself during the Miss Chinese Cosmos Beauty pageant. However, her reading and writing skills were still significantly behind, and couldn’t write words that were other than her whole name.

She also showed much interest in becoming an actress after her pageant success. After enrolling in Jian University, she came back to Malaysia and starred in a few television series – Love Circle, directed by Ken Soh, with Zaaf Production House; and was the lead in All For Love, which was produced by SystemVation Sdm Bhd. Apart from these, she also landed spokesmodel roles for name brands such as Sony, Pepsi, and Matsushita.

Carrie Lee later went on to buy the franchise of Miss Chinese Cosmos for the Malaysia leg, and founded an event planning company named White Fairy Sdn. Bhd. Truly, this role model is an all around talent, and has proven herself worthy of being called a queen in her own right.
