Cecilia Cheung

Cecilia Cheung could probably owe her beauty to the fact that she comes from a multiracial lineage – her mother is half Chinese and half British, while her father is Chinese. Her claim to fame can be credited to both her singing talents and acting abilities.

When she was young, she shot a television commercial, and from there, was discovered by Stephen Chow. Her film debut was entitled “King Of Comedy” in 1999, in which she was nominated for Best New Actress at the Hong Kong Film Awards. “Fly Me To Polaris” followed in 1999 as well, in which she won Best New Actress with the Hong Kong Film Awards. After that, she went on to do a number of films, such as “The Legend of Speed”, “Help!!!”, “Twelve Nights”, “Everyday is Valentine”, “Para Para Sakura”, “Honesty”, and more recently, “Dangerous Liaisons”.

She had a few movies that earned her some awards and nominations. “Running on Karma” won her a Best Actress award with the Hong Kong Film Critics Society, “Lost in Time” won her the Best Female Actress in Golden Bauhinia and the Hong Kong Film Awards. Her film, “The Promise”, got a nomination with the Golden Globes, Hong Kong Film Awards, Golden Trailer, and Fantasporto.

As a singer, she also has a good discography to her name, starting with “Any Weather” in 1999 and ending in “C1” in 2005.

Her personal life was mired with a bit of drama, most especially with her husband, Nicholas Tse. They were dating but split up in 2002, because Tse went back to his former love, singer Faye Wong. Though she dated a lot of other guys after that relationship, Cecilia Cheung was diagnosed with clinical depression and was given prescription medication due to the break up with Nicholas. Nevertheless, they got back together and admitted to having a secret marriage in the Philippines in September 2006. Cecilia has two sons with this union. Divorce was filed for that marriage in 2011, and they share custody of their two children.
