A lifetime in outback Queensland with Dorris Hughes

Last week I had an opportunity to photograph Rose’s grandmother who has lived in Georgetown for the past 50 years. Dorris Hughes is a beautiful lady and doesn’t mind telling a good old yarn.

Over several cups of tea and pumpkin cake, we talked about her life story: growing up in the bush; the hardships; working on stations; how her father lost a leg during WW1; and bloody goat head bindies.
