Här i södra Sverige, iallafall i Skåne är det bara knölsvanar som häckar, sångsvanarna är här på vintrarna. Men i fjol såg jag tre par sångsvanar som börjat häcka i vattenriket. Två par på Hercules dammarna och ett par på Karpalundsdammarna. Sångsvanar är ju annars fåglar som trivs i norr. så man kan ju undra varför de har börjat att häcka här. Inte för att jag har något emot det, tvärtom! Kanske de blivit trötta på det eviga flyttandet, eller så vill de söka nytt territorium? Sångsvanen som ser mindre ut än knölsvanen är faktiskt större. Den är mycket smäckrare än knölsvanen så därför ser den mindre ut. Men bägge svanarna är några av världens tyngsta fåglar som kan flyga, runt 12 kilo tunga.

För första gången har jag sett, och fotat, sånglärkan på Karpalundsdammarna. Den ville visserligen inte vända sig mot mig när den sjöng samtidigt som den sakta steg rakt upp i luften tills man inte såg den längre.

Here in southern Sweden, at least in Scania, there are only mute swans nesting, the whooper swans are here in the winters. But last year I saw three pairs of whooper swans that started to nest in the water kingdom. Two couples on the Hercules ponds and a couple at the Karpalund ponds. Whooper swans are otherwise birds that enjoy the north. so you might wonder why they have started to nest here. Not because I dislike it, on the contrary! Perhaps they get tired of the everlasting relocation, or they want to search for new territory? The whooper swans looks smaller than the mute swans, but is actually bigger. It is much smoother than the mute swan, so it looks smaller. But both the swans are some of the world’s heaviest birds that can fly, around 12 kg heavy.

For the first time I have seen, and photographed, the skylark on Karpalund ponds. It did not want to turn to me when it sang while it slowly rose straight into the air until you did not see it anymore.
