Most of beginner photograher oftenly still confuse when they want  to choose Lens which is suitable with what they really need.  Despite, because there are many variants of lens type, but also because the prices are so high , so it’s  very important to  know the best lens what we really need suitable with our photography style, don’t let you choose wrong lens. That’s why we must have good knowledges first about lens, so we can buy the best lens that suitable for you, Of course you don’t want to waste your money to buy lens for something useless.

Every lens has the classes such as :zoom lens, tele, and fix. This article will give you a guides for who’s still confuse to choose the canon & Nikon lens.

Types of DSLR Lens
Prime Lens/Fix Lens

Prime Lens have fix focal lenght, so absolutely the subject of the photo can’t be enlarged nor minimized. We have to  move our position if we will to measure the the object size nor the point of view. This lens usually have size smaller that zoom lens ( comparing with the same focal lenght).  But even small the photo result will mor e sharp. Prime lens also have wide aperture , it makes  good blurred/bokeh. Some types of this lens such as :

  • CanonEF 14mm f/2.8 L II USM
  • CanonEF 28mm f/1.8 USM
  • CanonEF 35mm f/1.4 L USM
  • CanonEF 50mm f/1.8 II
  • NikonAF 50mm f/1.8D
  • SIGMAAF 70mm f/2.8L EX DG MACRO
  • CANONEF 85mm f/1.8 USM
  • Canon100mm f/2.8 Macro USM
  • CanonEF 20mm f/2.8L II USM
  • NikonAF 135mm f/2D DC, and many more.
Zoom Lens

Zoom lens have different focal lenght that we can set suitable with what we want, so it’s reverse from Prime Lens. The advantage of zoom lens  is flexibility, it means that just using one lens we can get many variants of focal lenght  & lens anglewithout  move our position oftenly. While the wakness of zoom lens are the size is bigger and more heavy also the sharp/depth quality of photo still under of Prime Lens. Some Types of this lens such as :
  • CanonEF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM
  • NikonAF-S 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5 G ED DX
  • CanonEF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM
  • TokinaAT-X 16.5-135mm F3.5-5.6DX
  • CanonEF 24-70mm f/2.8L II USM
  • CanonEF-S 55-250 mm f/4-5.6 IS II
  • CanonEF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM
  • TAMRON SP 70-300mm F/4-5.6 Di VC USD, and many more
Zoom Lens oftenly are equipped by information about ratio of zommed in, but need to be understand that zoomed in this case is the comparison between smallest with the biggest focal lenght. So,  it’s not about photo zoomed from the the real object. For example EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM, ratio of zoomed in is 85:15 or 5.6:1.

Macro Lens
Macro Lens was designed to shoot small and close/near things. Therefore Macro Lens must have close/near focal lenght. The comparison of photo object with picture captured on censor usually 1:1, it means that when focus on very close with the photo subject ,the the size of photo subject is the same with the picture captured on camera/fim censor.

Fisheye Lens
Fisheye Lens is lens which is have the extreme wide-angle . Moreover there’s lens that have pointview untill 180°. Beside that, Tis lens also have extreme distortion. Why it’s called Fish eye, because it’s alike eye of fish.

Perspective Control Lens
This Lens is used for architectural photographs, There’s not much photographer who use this lens type because it’s too specific. Tili-Shift lens is one of this lens types.
