Let’s start step by step bellow.
I have a photo in low quality because from composition segment it could be better. So this is the  sample macro photo :

Then i try to explore the background part that really empty with the grass or bokeh or anything that make photo more beautiful. But it doesn’t mean that the empty bcakground isn’t god, it’s all depend on your taste.
We take Background Photo  that we want, for example i picked the grass in the backyard.

Then let’s play with photosop, open your photoshop with configuration bellow :
Place the background photo (grass) as the topmost layer and main subject (dragonfly) on underneath , look at the picture.
Change the layer into softlight,  if it doen’t work cahnge the opacity into more samll depend on what you want.

Then we continue with masking area that should be sharp or the area that should be real, because the process above make first photo is seen more merge with second photo.
On this step we can use Brush Tool :
On background that we want to celan, turn on the layer, then add the layer mask
Click brush tool, set the opacity suitable with your taste, but here i sue 100%.
Brushing on the part of photo that you want to sharp
Make sure se the foreground color was already on black color
