Total Lunar Eclipse Oct 2014: Blood Moon behind the Clouds

The Total Lunar Eclipse this morning had all the right elements – good timing, a good location (descending over the Colorado mountains) but was missing that one most important variable: good weather. We had a lot of mist and cloud cover in the air, so I got no chance at a crisp shot of the blood moon, but I got some interesting shots when the clouds cooperated.

Through the haze, the eclipse begins

The sunlight returns to the face of the moon and briefly illuminates it behind the clouds.

One last reappearance before the clouds moved in for good

It was kind of disappointing, but I always believe that you can’t get your hopes up too much when nature’s involved. I didn’t get the shots I hoped for once again, but I still got to experience a wonder of the natural world and an otherwise beautiful mild autumn evening. So there’s that. And there’s always next time.

Did you get any good shots of the blood moon? Post a link in the comments!
