Photo of the Week 98

Here it is another wonderful Friday again.  The weekend is almost upon us.  Before it hits, do take some time to check out what Cramer Imaging's pick is for "Photo of the Week."  It's most appropriate to this coming holiday.  This week, we feature some Fireworks exploding in the sky.

This photo started out as another one of those photo attempts at the 4th of July celebration.  We only have a certain few chances to get fireworks on film.  This was one such chance and we took it.

We checked out the Melaleuca Freedom fireworks show in Idaho Falls.  It's a much better fireworks show than the show Pocatello puts on.  It's worth it for the drive up the freeway to see a better fireworks show without a monster truck style feel and a large section of the show being devoted to a patriotic sounding ad for car sales.

We set up the tripod and used the cable release in order to get this shot.  We had to take several exposures in order to have a chance at a good photo.  This is fireworks and they don't stay put nor do they cooperate with a camera.  If you don't time it right, you don't get a good shot.

In order to get this kind of fireworks photograph, you need to leave the shutter open for several seconds.  It's the only way to get a good burst shot.  In order to get several firework bursts, like this, you need to time things where several will be going off together in close succession.  With that, you either need to know what the schedule is or use luck.

This photo is available in sizes up to 16x24 inches.
