I grew up in Tenafly, NJ. I went to school at the University of Michigan followed by Rutgers Physician Assistant program in New Brunswick NJ. I now work as a physician assistant at Columbia University medical center ER
Greg grew up in East Windsor, NJ. He went to Wisconsin for undergrad (we have a VERY funny cake topper of a bride and groom with a Michigan and Wisconsin helmet next to them), and we are rivals during college football season 🙂 Greg went to Rutgers Medical School and now works as a doctor of ophthalmology at University Hospital in Newark.
I was very good friends with a guy in Greg’s med school class (Justin Dubin, who actually is one of our groomsmen!!). Justin knew I was very unhappy in the apartment I was living in at the time, so he asked if I wanted to go with him to look at this new apartment building with him because he needed to move as well. He was going to be roommates with (drum roll please) Greg Budoff, who had lived at his parent’s house his first year of med school and was ALSO looking to move. I got in the car with Justin, and Greg was in the front seat wearing a big red Wisconsin sweatshirt. He was so very very cute and funny, at the end of the day when Justin dropped me back off at school so I could finish studying, I made Greg put my number in his phone. I then texted HIM, later that night, which is very unlike me. Greg will tell you that he asked me out, but I in fact really asked him out 🙂
I knew Greg was the one when he made me HOMEMADE CHICKEN NOODLE SOUP when I was very very sick in med school. I had only been going out with him for a few months, but his mom told me that he spent all day making it from scratch. He brought it to my apartment the next day in plastic Tupperware, like a grandma. I knew I loved him then.
It had been almost five years. I had a feeling it was going to happen soon. He took me to Woodstock for the weekend to hike and see a concert and get away from the city. I thought he was going to propose all weekend, and on the way home, he still hadn’t, and I have to admit I wasn’t in the best mood :). He stopped at “the walkway over the Hudson,” a beautiful bridge spanning one mountain to another before we got back to Jersey City. He got on one knee in the middle of the bridge. He asked me to hold off on telling my family for a few hours so we could enjoy it ourselves. But when we got to the dinner reservation he had made for us my entire family was there with his. He nailed it.
I love Greg’s enthusiasm and energy the most. Medicine can force you to grow up faster than you want, it is very serious and can be draining. But he is constantly happy and positive; he doesn’t let ANYTHING bring him down, ever.

The Reception
