St. Athanasios Greek Orthodox Church Bride and Groom getting ready

As part of our blog, we interview the bride and groom about their wedding experience. This is what they said:

Tell us about Anastasia: where you grew up, went to school, where you work.
Anastasia is an artist as well as an art teacher at Bloomfield High School.

Tell us about Daniel: where you grew up, went to school, where you work.
Daniel is a special education teacher and drummer.

How did you guys first meet? Who, what, when, where, why? Give us the dirty details.
Dan was in a band with a mutual friend and they met at a show in 2009. Anastasia was going to art school in MA at the time while Dan was going to school in NJ. Dan would come visit Anastasia  until she moved back home.

When did you both know he was the one? Was there something he did?
Before we even dated.

Tell us about the proposal? Did you see it coming? (What long was it in the planning? How did you feel? Nervous, excited, freaking out?)
Dan bought the ring in January 2015 and asked my father’s permission in May. He did not propose until August 22. My dad thought he’d changed his mind because he was taking so long to ask! I knew we’d be married but did not expect it on the day he proposed.

Tell us the one thing that you love most about each other.
Our sense of humor, the way we joke together – the way our personalities balance each other out and how we know we can depend on each other.

If you feel comfortable, share with us something silly or quirky the other person does.
Dan likes progressive rock and collecting retro video games/comics. Anastasia also likes progressive rock and tea parties. We enjoy terrible movies together.

The couple shared their first dance. The speeches contained a right mix of lighthearted fun and touching moments about their connections to the bride and groom and the love that they share. Dinner was a gourmet delight but the real star of the day was the delicious cake. The baker outdid themselves by creating a treat that not only looked remarkable but tasted as good as it looked. If you have been to many weddings, you probably know that this is not always the case. After dinner was served, the real party began as the dance floor was occupied by the guests.
