Big Moana and Va’a (Polynesian canoes) gave the adventure to the populations living nowadays in the Pacific Ocean. Out of Taiwan, they discovered and colonized islands comprising New Zealand, Hawaii, Polynesia and Eastern island.

First Va’a were carved out of wood logs, when large enough trees were available.

Later, wood planks sewed together with ropes expanded Va’a’ sizes and exploration radius: several are exposed at the Te Fare Iamanaha musem in Tahiti. The first who built them was Hiro, God of Thieves and great explorer.

Nowadays we move on catamaran ferries between the islands

sharing the same double hull technology of the largest Va’a, back to the time of the Great Migration

or of the modern Va’a for competition
