Carin and Edward on Whistler Mountain

Carin and Edward take a ride on the Whistler Peak2Peak Gondola after their Whistler mountain wedding at Steeps Grill.

While the crew from Sea to Sky Celebrations was getting the guests loaded onto the gondola for the trip to the top of Whistler, I grabbed Carin and Edward for a first look photo session in the Westin Resort courtyard, which has a neat looking waterfall that makes a great photo background. After that we jumped the Village Gondola ourselves.

The ring bearers needed a little coaxing to get them down the aisle.

My good friend Pastor Jeremy Postal performed the wedding ceremony.

The wedding was on the patio of the Steeps Grill on top of Whistler.

The fathers of the groom and bride were having a pretty good time at the reception.

We had some fog move in that shut us down for portraits on the rear patio at the Roundhouse Lodge, but they let us into the new bar, built in a yurt, for some photos in there.

No Whistler Mountain wedding is complete without a trip on the Peak2Peak Gondola. Tell the you just got married and they’ll give you your own gondola car. The views from the gondola are out of this world.

Carin and Edward were holding their wedding dinner at the Nicklaus North Golf Club, and since we were weathered out on top of Whistler, we decided to do some portraits along the boardwalk at Greenlake, which is really my favourite local spot for photos.

Tech Stuff
I very rarely use a fisheye lens for wedding photos (when I was a staff newspaper photographer, you got fined a case of beer for any gratuitous use of a fisheye lens), but when you’re in a confined space like a Gondola car, they’re just the ticket. The 16mm fisheye lens I use has a field of view of 180 degrees, wider than you can see with your eyes.
