Doug and Cathy at the Vancouver Terminal Club

You learn a lot about a couple when you photograph their wedding, but I have to say that Doug and Cathy’s story is really special. They were high school sweet hearts back in the day who went their separate ways after school. They both went on to start families with four kids each. Then both newly single, they ran into each other at their 20th high school anniversary and got back together, raising their eight children as a big blended family. Twenty years later, with the kids all in their 20’s and 30’s, they finally decided to get married at Vancouver’s Terminal City Club.

Now that’s a wedding cake I can get into.

The Terminal City Club is one of the most elegant places I’ve ever photographed a wedding at. Really a lovely location.

After the wedding, I grabbed the whole group and hiked them down to the Burrard Landing Square, beside the Vancouver Conference Centre for some photos. It was about a five block walk, but really worth it for the panoramic views of Vancouver and the North Shore.

After dinner and the first dance, I grabbed Cathy and Doug for some final portraits around the Terminal City Club. It’s in the Vancouver downtown city core and has some cool art projects, like this lit up bubble swing, that make for some really neat photos.
