Holdsworth House Wedding Photography | Amy & Ryan

Holdsworth House wedding photography. Amy & Ryan were married at St. Paul’s Church in Drighlington, followed by a reception at Holdsworth House in Halifax. It was one of those perfect autumn days – clear blue skies, crisp air and lots of lovely colours in the trees.. I met up with Amy and her bridesmaids and mum at The Holiday Inn in Tong where they were all having their hair and male up done in one of the suites. The room was pretty crowded so I took Amy’s dress for a little wander down the hall to hang it on the staircase for some photos. Knowing how much Amy loved the autumn I took her shoes and other little details outside to get some shots of them in the autumn leaves. I spent the next hour or so capturing Amy and the girls enjoying a drink or two whilst hair and make up were being finished off.

Meanwhile my ace second shooter Jamie met Ryan and the boys at The Spotted Cow next to the church to capture them enjoying a bit of dutch courage before the ceremony! They all then headed to St. Paul’s in time for a few group photos before the guests started to arrive. Back at the hotel it was time for Amy to get dressed and to let her lovely dad in to see her all ready to go. A very emotional moment for everyone (me included!).

I then headed to the church to join Jamie, say hi to Ryan and wait for Amy and the girls to arrive.

Once they were there I grabbed a quick team shot before making my way inside to take my place at the top of the aisle. The vicar was a friend and former colleague of Amy’s so her was nice and relaxed about photograph which meant that Jamie and I could be at opposite ends of the church to get two different perspectives. Ryan was completely blown away when Amy made her entrance and the whole ceremony was wonderfully personal, moving, and hilarious!

Once Amy and Ryan were pronounced husband and wife and the register was signed they walked back up the aisle and outside to greet everyone as they exited. Confetti was handed out and we executed a very efficient confetti tunnel on the church path before heading off to Holdsworth.

Jamie and I arrived a bit before Amy & Ryan so I nipped in to get lots of detail shots of the amazing set up inside whilst Jamie waited for the happy couple! once they were in with Prosecco in hand (priorities!) we whipped through some group photos on the lawn and then let Amy & Ryan have a bit of a break to spend some time with their guests – it was such a beautiful day so lots of people enjoyed their drinks and canapés on the terrace in the afternoon sun. Towards the end of the drinks reception Jamie and I took Amy & Ryan off for 15 minutes of so for a few shots of the two of them together around the amazing grounds at Holdsworth. Soon it was time for everyone to be seated for the speeches, after which food was served and we left them all in peace to eat!

After the meal there was a bit of a break before the evening reception and the light was just lovely so I grabbed Amy & Ryan for another quick turn around the gardens. We then went back inside to watch the incredible magician Magic Matt whom had hired to keep people entertained before the party started. He was absolutely amazing, I highly recommend him!

I knew they were keen to get some shots of the two of them outside after dark so once the sun was down we wandered back out to play with my flash guns until they couldn’t take the cold anymore! Everyone else then piled out on the the terrace to play with some sparklers (another reason I love an autumn wedding!), before the room was ready for the cake cutting and for Amy & Ryan to do their first dance.

Huge thank yo to Amy and Ryan for trusting me to capture their most special of days, it really was an honour to share it with you both and your wonderful families!
