The San Diego International Film Festival

The San Diego International Film Festival is a yearly event held in downtown San Diego. It gives independent film makers an opportunity to get their work out to viewers as well as have the audience watch large studio films before they are released to theaters. The event, running from September 28th through October 22nd, will hand out different awards to the attending film makers.

One of the larger names that will be a star in a featured film is Nathan Lane. He will be in a film called “No Pay, Nudity” about a failing actor who has lost his friends and family. The film will be starring Gabriel Byrne.

Another film being “Julieta” Directed by Pedro Almodovar. This film is already an oscar contender for best foreign film.

One of the independent films is “Railway Spine” which is a war and crime drama showing the tragic story of a Vietnam Veteran suffering from PTSD. This movie is actually a contender for a few awards.

On September 29th, a “Night of the Stars” will be held for a few awards to be given out. Annette Bening who is a San Diego Native will receive the Gregory Peck award for excellence in cinema.

Of the 5 awards being handed out that night, Jason Mitchel will be handing out the “Rising Star” award.

The San Diego Int’l Fim Festival is a large event that features both small and large scale films each year. If you are truly a lover of film you should attend this event.
