Athelhampton House Dorset wedding photography review 2016

My Dorset wedding photographer review of 2016 continues with this wedding from Athelhampton House in Dorset which is an awesome wedding venue. I love this first Shot during the ceremony with so much laughter due to the father of the groom about to do a reading but then became over come with a few tears. This was met by huge hilarity by his son Dan who found his dad getting emotional very amusing. All the guest’s faces with smiles and laughter and Dan the groom holding his belly in laughter, just a great moment during the ceremony and dad trying to hide his face altogether.

TOP Ten Tips FOR A Perfect Wedding DAYThis shot is differs from most shots I share on the blog as it is in normal natural colour with no high art tints. I love this shot as it shows the main garden to it’s best with those triangular trees and the water feature. Best of all is that bride and groom look so synchronized and in love walking in step with each other. The light is beautiful as well as there is soft hazy sunshine giving a strong diffused light. There is no particular wow about this image, it is included in my review because it is just so simple, and often the most simple shots can be so easily overlooked.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING DAYWhen I shared this shot on social media it got allot of hits which surprised me as I did not think that too many people would appreciate the strong sepia tone I chose to use for this high art version, how wrong I was. The tint was one small piece that makes this image a winner, the most important aspect is the bride and groom looking lovingly into each others eyes, with the groom’s hand gently holding his bride. With the image being mono toned we the viewer are forced to ignore all the foliage that would of been so distracting in the normal natural colour image with its greens, but instead concentrate are gaze on the bride and groom, a really strong image.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING DAYThe next two images have the same filter set to them from the high art edit. I couldn’t separate these images as they are similar but communicate in slightly different ways just by zooming in or out of the picture. The water in the above photo I love as we again are looking at the bride and groom gazing lovingly into each others eyes and I like this image for its symbolism of allot of water flowing under the bridge, which represents all the experiences and life allredy shared between them up to this day.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING DAYThis shot had to be included as I just like to see the reflection of the couple in the image as well in some of the images. I love this shot as it includes more of the landscape and I love the colours I have rendered in high art tints, so much more mood setting than the natural greens that were present in the original colour shot.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING DAYThis sort of almost silhouette shot tends to always play an important role in my wedding photography, as when and if I get the opportunity to get this sort of shot I will.  This shot happened at speed and I did not set it up as if I had of done, I would of fanned out the dress more, but as it was I wanted to catch a moment without interfering too much.

TOP TEN TIPS FOR A PERFECT WEDDING DAYA cracker of an image to end with, this is very unusual lighting which you wont see very often. This shot is where I have used some of the remaining ambient light left from after sunset, with a hint of colour left in the sky, and that ambient light, lighting up the landscape, except for the front of the house which I have lit with my own big light. Also the bride and groom are being back lit by one of my lgihts, and also there is another light lighting bride and groom from the front/side as well. Finished off with a high art tinted edit and we have a very memorable photo for the happy couple, although saying that I have supplied them with more than one!
