Jasmine & Steve Engagement Wedding Shoot Autumn Upton House in Poole, Dorset.

I can say though that every engagement Shoot I do that all the couples do feel better about the photography aspect of their day and generally feel far more at ease with the idea. Essentially couples just seem nervous of the unknown, as they have never posed as a couple or on their own for a professional photographer.

Jasmine and Steve wanted to highlight Autumn as the timing was right for organising this shoot, and we decided together after some other discussed locations on Upton House in Poole, Dorset. The vast majority of the engagement shoots I do are at either Upton House or Sandbanks, this is not necessarily my choice but they are my go to places for most couples who are stuck for ideas of where to go to. I tend to stick to local beauty spots, and am not fazed by attending the same location on multiple times as I can never get bored of the outdoors and get quite Zen about it all. The light in this country is always different and even though I visit the same locations many times, I always see something different each time. This of course follows on with the many wedding venues I am commissioned for, it is no good at all if a wedding photographer gets bored and continually seeks new locations for their shoots as weddings in Dorset take place at a finite amount of wedding venues! In one wedding season a Dorset wedding photographer can end up at the same wedding venue maybe 3-5 times a year, sometimes far more if you are the recommended photographer. So essentially it is very important for a wedding photographer to be able to see the slight differences in light and the change of the aspects visually from the seasonal changes. Also different clients will pose themselves in their own way and have their own way of interacting. There is always something fresh to see, and that’s what I get paid for!

The Autumn leaves were at their peak I think, we got some great colours for this shoot. I have included fill in flash and also just natural light, both have their merits and I think combining and including both in the supplied images gives choice for whatever the individuals eye prefers. A particular favourite shot is kissing under the falling leaves. I have posted these images up in the order I took them in, which is very useful to spot how Jasmine and Steve both settled into the shoot quickly, discovering that posing, or rather just being in front of the camera is a piece of cake.
