Askham Hall Wedding Photography in Cumbria
A sunny autumn day on the edge of the Lake District for Alice and Martin’s Wedding at historic Askham Hall. Alice had planned her wedding in just four months, being determined to get married the same year her and Martin were engaged. Both the bride and groom got ready in rooms in the hall, with Anna Sorbie on hair and make-up duty with the girls. The fantastic flowers were put together by Roseberry Floral Design. The string quartet contained a couple of family members, and they snuck in a rehearsal before the ceremony got started.
Barn Wedding Ceremony in the Lake District
The ceremony took place in the Grade II listed Bank Barn, where the groom and guests were patiently waiting. Once in her Jesus Piero dress from Fellside Brides, Alice joined them to music played by the family and friends on the strings. After a brief civil ceremony with a couple of readings, the couple signed the register and headed through the gardens back to the hall. After hiding inside long enough for the guests to make it over to the hall too, they appeared again to be bombarded with confetti. There followed a drinks reception with canapés. Half the guests got comfy inside the hall, and the rest spread out over the lawn and enjoyed the views.
Askham Hall Barn Wedding Reception
Back in the barn, away from Askham Hall, the scene was set for the wedding breakfast. The couple had decorated with lots of old photographs, hung around the room. The tables were named after local peaks as they are both keen explorers of their local environment in The Lakes. After dinner there were a few speeches, and the couple cut their wedding cake. Then the evening really got started with a ceilidh that had everyone swinging around like crazy. I made my exit as everyone was tucking into pizza cooked in the venue’s outdoor pizza oven.
