The 2018 Western Australian Epson Professional Photography Awards (WAEPPAs) were judged over the 29th and 30th of May 2018.

This year was my first entry into the awards entering 12 prints in total, across the three categories of Commercial, Travel and Landscape.

The prints collectively were awarded 3 x Gold, 4 x Silver Distinction and 5 x Silver awards across the 12 prints entered.

The combined print scores from two of the three categories entered were sufficient in my prints being selected as a Finalist in both the Commercial and Travel categories. I was subsequently awarded the 2018 WA Commercial Photographer of the Year.

The scores from these awards have resulted in qualification for the Australian Professional Photography Awards (APPAs) to be held in Melbourne, Victoria at the end of August.

All up, it was an incredibly rewarding experience entering the awards through the feedback that I gained and the connections made with other photographers as a result of entering the awards, and becoming a member of the AIPP, something that I would encourage all photographers to undertake to help you with refining your craft and passion.
