The 7 things you need to know about corporate headshots

Corporate headshots are vital for any business

Your Real Estate team (or any business, for that matter) will benefit from professional Corporate Headshots. Below are 7 tips to help you get the best possible headshots for you and your team.

1. Get them regularly

After a couple of years go by, you’ll probably find that your Corporate Headshots might no longer fit with the direction you’ve taken your company in. The visual isn’t quite right, or maybe it’s the colours, and you have made quite a few hires since the last round of headshots. And besides, Steve from accounting shaved his head and Karen from marketing got new glasses and…  If you get your headshots done regularly you can keep up with staff changes (and not just the cosmetic kind) and accurately reflect the way your business looks today.

2. Dress simply

Nothing too busy or overwhelming. Patterns and prints might not come up too well and they tend to date your photo anyway. A nice plain colour that suits your skin tone is the way to go, and most people look good in black and white or a moderate blue, burgundy, green or purple. Oh, and try not to wear a top/shirt that matches your skin tone or your face will blend into your clothes.

3. Keep the background simple too

Your backdrop can make a huge difference to how the final image turns out. There are a few different options you can consider, from plain white to an office setting to on location. Whatever you choose, make sure that the background isn’t distracting from the primary point of the image — you (and your team).

4. Relax

You might be a tad nervous about looking good, especially if you’ve been planning your headshots for a while, but try to loosen up. It might help to try to take some more natural, candid shots too and see how you go. (And try to have a good, relaxed posture – back straight but drop those shoulders!)

5. Have a mirror handy

That way you can make sure there’s nothing in your teeth (or nose for that matter). No stains on your shirt, no wrinkled collar, and not a hair out of place!

6. The Buddy System

Bring a co-worker with you (one you like!), who can make jokes, help you to relax and even let you know if you need to sit up straighter or change up your smile. The hope is they’ll help you show off (and capture) your personality.
