The brand has announced Redmi Note 8 and Redmi Note 8 Pro. They will be available to purchase in September.
Xiaomi has been raising the bar with cameras for quite a while now. It all started with the Redmi Note 7 having 48-Megapixel smartphones in early 2019.
Redmi Note 8 Pro is one of the first mobiles in the world to come with a 64-megapixel sensor. A few days ago, Realme made a small-announcement about its XT with the same 64-megapixel sensor. But Xiaomi’s was a full-fledged, proper announcement.
Specifications of Redmi Note 8
Design
Redmi Note 8 has a 6.3″ LCD screen and a Full HD+ resolution. The fingerprint scanner might be on the back and not under the display due to the missing OLED display.
The phone comes with a 4,000 mAh battery with 18W charging speeds and USB-C port. There is a 3.5 mm audio jack.
It is available in the colors: black, white and dream blue.
Processor
The phone runs on a Snapdragon 665 chipset, based on the 11 nm process. The SoC has eight Kryo 260 cores – four of them clocked at 2.2 GHz, the other clocked at 1.8 GHz.
Camera
The smartphone has a quad-camera setup consisting of a main 48-megapixel with the latest Samsung ISOCELL GM2 sensor. The second is an 8-megapixel ultra-wide lens, followed by a 2-megapixel macro and 2-megapixel depth sensor.
The front camera is of 13-megapixels.

Price of Redmi Note 8
The price of Redmi Note 8 will be starting from Rs. 9,999 (CNY999/ $140/ €125) for the 4/64GB variant.
The 6/64GB variant costs Rs. 12,000 (CNY1,999/ $167/ €150) and the 6/128GB costs Rs. 13,000 (CNY1,399 / $195/ €175).

Design
Redmi Note 8 Pro has the Samsung ISOCELL Bright GW1 sensor, launched the same time as the GM2 in the Redmi Note 8 and brings quad-binning pixel technology.
The display of the phone is 6.53″ in diagonal, with an LCD panel and Full HD+ resolution. It has small bezels, with the bottom one being just 4.2 mm thick.
The available colors are: black, green and white.
Processor
The device is also the first smartphone to come with the new SoC platform, Mediatek’s Helio G90T. It comes with a 4,500 mAh battery with 18W rates of quick-charging.
There are two variants with 6/8GB RAM and 64/128GB storage.

The phone is the first phone of the sub-brand to arrive with a liquid cooling chamber to offset the expected heating from the gaming chipset. In order to provide seamless gaming, there is also the feature to connect both to Wi-Fi and 4G.
Camera
Redmi Note 8 Pro has very distinctive four-camera vertical set up in the middle of the panel. Looking into detail, the 64 MP main shooter is accompanied by the same 8 MP ultra-wide + 2 MP depth + 2 MP macro combo as in the Redmi Note 8.
The selfie camera at the front is of 20-megapixels with plenty of AI features and scene recognition options.
Price of Redmi Note 8 Pro
The price is starting from Rs. 14,000 ( CNY1,399 / $195/ €175) for the 6/64 GB option and goes as high as Rs. 18,000 (CNY1,799 / $250/ €225) for the 8/128 GB variant.
