Apple Will Launch 4 iPhones in 2020 to Boost the Declining Sales

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Apple has planned to launch not one, not two but four new Iphones in the year 2020 as a step to grow its sales revenue.

Samik Chatterjee who is an analyst at J.P. Morgan wrote the report that said, “Our positive outlook for 2020 is driven by our current expectation for the launch of four Iphone models and more significant spec upgrades.”

Well, I really hope the ‘more significant spec upgrades’ part is true because Apple is really falling behind in that field. Dual SIM which was introduced in the year 2000 and the iPhone with dual SIM came in 2018.

Took 11 long years to get a dual SIM support. Sigh.

New iPhone Releases happen every year in September

Every year the highest sales are recorded during the holiday season as the iPhones are released in September.

The sales keep slowing down after that until the next set of iPhones are launched. As every new phone costs way higher than the previous one, the success of the launch also depends on the economic conditions at the time.

It has been always about the brand name and the social status that comes with it. Because in the same price and even lesser, smartphones are available with more internal storage and faster processors.

What to expect from the new 4 iPhones

OLED displays

In his report, Chatterjee mentions that in 2020, the iPhones are expected to come with OLED displays, virtual reality support, and high-speed modems with 5G support.

The three flagship phones will come with display sizes of 5.4”, 6.1”, and 6.7” as Tim Cook is adamant on not dropping the premium segment.

At the moment, iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max have OLED screens. They are far better than the usual LCD screens used on mobile devices but they cost more too.

5G Support

With 5G support, the new iPhones of 2020 will see a boost in their cellular download speed. Let’s see if the cellular networks develop by 2020 in order to support 5G.

J. P. Morgan predicts that Apple will sell 195 million iPhones in 2020 and about 180 million in 2019.

Chatterjee said he also sees Apple going after “a much more ‘value’ category than it has been used to with its recent launches.” That could be a lower-cost iPhone in 2020 that’s the same size as the iPhone 8 but without a 5G modem or OLED display.
