Kerala has been in my list of places I want to visit someday for as long as I can remember. The green lush hills of Munnar and the beautiful backwaters. Today, Kerala needs your help. It is reeling with one of the worst flooding disasters seen in the country. The death toll has risen to 79 and is on the rise at the moment. It is the second worst flood in India has seen after 1924.
Shutters of 27 Dams have been opened in the state for the first time. 41 rivers out of 44 are flowing at a level past the red mark. The beautiful Munnar is submerged under the flood waters. 10 out of 14 districts are severely affected. Preliminary estimates a loss of Rs. 8316 crores.
People have left their homes, belongings and everything they earned over the years to move to a safer rehabilitation camp. Kerala is in need of our help. It’s my kind request to you to generously donate to the Chief Minister’s relief fund. No matter how small the amount is, it makes a difference. Southern Railways and Kochi Metro have suspended their operations in flood-hit Kerala.
