Hey everyone! Today we will learn how to edit your pictures of the mountain to bring back the colour in them and make the terrain look rugged and clear. I had been using VSCO before, to get the Blue tones in my pictures. Well, you can’t resist the amazing filters in VSCO but the quality of the pictures gets a bit compromised and its always better to learn how to make the same filter on your own. I’ll be explaining how to do that in Adobe Photoshop Lightroom. We’ll transform a sample picture I took during my trip to Ladakh and make the sky’s blue hue more attractive.
First of all, you need Lightroom.
Download Adobe Photoshop Lightroom
- Launch Lightroom and import the picture you want to edit.
- On the right panel, choose the crop icon and straighten your photograph if it isn’t already.
- Still, on the right panel, scroll down to Camera Calibration and set the Blue Primary to -43. Seeing that blue pop in?
- Choose the brush icon from the right panel and select the area of the mountain or anything that is your subject. This should be the area you want to enhance as the foreground.
- Once you have completed the selection, make the following changes. Increase the Clarity and Sharpness up to a value where the mountain’s texture is clearer but the picture shouldn’t tear apart as well. Set the value of Blacks to -13, Highlights to somewhere around -80, using the slider. We are reducing the highlights because of they blowout certain regions which can be unpleasant to look at. You’ll see an option of choosing a colour to apply to your selected area. There will be a white rectangular box with a cross on it. Click on it and select orange with 65% saturation. This will add colour to the mountain.
- Use the radial filter from the right panel and place them on the top of the mountain. Set the Whites to 45 and Shadows to 43. This will bring in more eyeballs to the top making it a bit brighter.
- Choose the Graduated Filter from the right panel. You’ll need two graduated filters. On from the top in which you have to reduce the clarity to almost zero to make the sky look smooth dreamy. In the bottom filter, increase the Shadows to 63.
