Polperro, Cornwall

Polperro is a small Village and fishing harbour situated on the south-east coast of Cornwall. It's a very popular destination in the summer months with tourists packing its tight streets and gazing at the ancient fishermen's houses.
Fishing has long been the main occupation of the inhabitants of the village, but over the years there has been an influx of artists, captivated by the beauty and tranquility of the place and of course tourists who keep the economy moving along.
The view out over the small harbour from the quayside:
A row of fishing boats all lined up waiting for the right time to set sail out of the safety of the harbour to complete their work and bring home their catch.
When they are not at sea, the fishermen make sure that their nets and equipment are well maintained and looked after with running repairs being carried out all along the quay.
One of the smaller boats notes the villages previous history and involvement with the smuggling trade which was prevalent throughout the years.
Of course the fishermen's houses are a great attraction and they sit right alongside the quayside and have so much colour and history in their walls.
Right along the entire length of the harbour there are houses and cottages with small boats moored up outside. You can see the small ladders dropping down into the water from each house.
As you look around the village away from the quay there are lots of really small nooks and crannies and entrance ways and it all adds the atmosphere of the place.
The names of the cottages also support the history of the nautical theme of the village, with references like this:
There are many legends and stories in the village including that of the "ghost" of Willy Wilcox, who was by all accounts a smuggler. He disappeared whilst hiding in the caves that you can find on the small beach.
