how to take care of white cloud mountain minnows!

Have you got a small tank you want to fill?

I have the perfect fish!

have you heard of the White Cloud Mountain minnow?

Lots of colour, personality, easy to care for and breed. I have customers breeding them in bird

baths.

They prefer to form schools with their own kind and other small peaceful fish.

so a fish Tank at least 10ltrs with a filter is acceptable, the bigger the school you want the bigger

the fish tank should be, White Cloud mountain minnow care is very basic.

Coldwater or tropical the most adaptable fish

they are happy in temperature's any where from 12  to 26 this makes them great

in either a cold water tank or a tropical tank or even a pond,

bird bath or water feature.

pH 6.0 to 8.0

Tank mates

Their tank mates will depend on where you are going to keep them.

If its in a pond outside you want fish that are just as hardy, the murray river rainbow is fine outside

in NSW tempertures year round. So is the pacific blue eye, a beautiful little fish.

You can buy live bearers such as platies, swordtails, mollies that have been conditioned for

outside, but these fish wont work in the cooler area's of NSW in winter.

In queensland they would do fine.

If they are going into a fish tank inside with a heater then any small peaceful fish like neon's,

cardinal tetra's, lemon tetras, cherry barbs, glow light tetras, lamp eye tetras, most of the tetra

family.

Also larger peaceful fish if the tank is a bigger size over 2 foot at least , killie fish, Gourami's dwarf

variety, and Cleaner fish like bristle nose cat fish and coryodoras,

Other tank mates should be PLANTS, lots of them, using live plants means you will have better

water quality as they take up the nitrates as food, and replace them with oxygen, better water

means the fish will breed. The plants also give the fish a place to lay their eggs.

Feeding White Cloud Mountain Minnow

White Clouds are omnivorous, in wild conditions they fed on small

insects, worms, crustaceans and other zooplankton and plant

matters. In captivity they accept all types of food including live or

frozen like bloodworms, mosquito larvae, brine shrimp

Daphnia, crisps and flake food. To keep your fish

healthy feed them a good variety of dry and frozen foods.
