The Standard (large) poodle is very good with children and is not overly excitable. The Miniature poodle is the most affectionate.
General Impression: The Toy poodle is not generally considered to be a suitable family pet as compared to the Standard and Miniature because of its higher rankings on snapping at children. But the behavior difference is not documented and has no research/academic background.
