Bird Gathering In Singapore: Celebrating 3 Years With Pet Birds At The Beach!

The wet season calls for a mini celebration when we were blessed with a fair amount of sun on a special day— the 3rd Anniversary of a local Bird appreciation group, Birdies and Family. Held at Palawan beach Sentosa, this celebration was open to the public, highlighting a spread of happenings including TWO free-flight demonstrations!

Free Flight For Domesticated Birds

The beauty of free flight for pet Parrots and Birds are truly a sight to behold. Beyond visual spectaculars, the true purpose of free flight also challenges the bond between owner and their Fids. It takes immaculate trust through training and care over a period of time to fully achieve free flight status.

At the peak of this achievement is where your pet Parrot is able to enjoy the nature and surroundings in its rightful freedom— a Bird’s eye view from atop
Can you tell us apart?
For cautionary measures, please note that free flight is not recommended for first timers without veteran training advice and supervision. Which brings us to the next pointer, that’s just one of the many reasons why Bird groups as such exist! Join them in on free flight activities and help your pet Bird express their true characteristics and learn from one another, the safest way possible; do not try this on your own.
Hoomin, gimme that sunflower seed!

Birds At The Gathering

Unlike Bird singing competitions, these bird enthusiasts are in love with different species— Parrots. Of different sizes, species and colours. Locating the event spot was easy after crossing paths with two members from Birdies and Family whom affirmed our route (Thank you!).
And with that, a myriad of bird squawking, chirping and twilling began to hit our ears. This was actually more than just fun and games, there were stalls with toys and products for your feathery friends, also a health talk on Pet Birds, lucky draw, lunch, and even cake!
It has always been a pleasure meeting families and friends of Birdies and Family, it was a warm and welcoming celebration where owners were more than willing to aid you if you wanted a photo of their vibrant Fids (no flash photography of course).

The best part? Catching up and making new friends and actually getting to play with some of the Parrots! In fact, just from this alone you could make out just how close the larger Fids were to their owners— not all of them fancy being held by a stranger (seek permission before trying!)
Nom nom nom.
