First adventure for the puppies….. in their new dog trailer!!

Tags: beach trailer boy

Hello again. Today I am going to be talking about the time my mom decided that we needed to get a better form of transport for the pups as they were getting too big for the boot of my mom’s jeep.

Trying the trailer out for size…..

It was a local man who my mom bought the dog trailer from. It was:

  • small,
  • blue and white,
  •  square in size,
  •  with a grate acting as a door to prevent the pups from getting out of the trailer.

At first, the dogs were a bit unsure as to what this contraption was. They began sniffing it like mad and jumping onto it! Honey, being fussy, decided that she didn’t want to go in the trailer with her two boys. She opted for the jeep instead. Buzzy, being the more outgoing of the two, was very quick to get into the trailer. It took a lot of coaxing and patience to get Bumble into the trailer. The floor was cold metal at first, but then my mom cut up an old carpet and fitted it into the trailer, which made it a much more com

When the boys were in our boot for any length of time either going to the vet or the beach or for a long walk in one of the long roadways a drive from where we live, the pups always made a mess in the boot. It was really hard to breathe at some points! To solve this problem, the trailer was our salvation. This didn’t seem to cross the pup’s mind as they have kept the trailer spotless ever since we got it. They have never had an incident like they did in the boot of my mom’s jeep!

First adventure for the pups…. the beach!!

It was a dry, cloudy day when we decided to bring the boys out to the beach for the first time. My siblings, my mom and I all brought the boys to the beach in their little trailer attached to the jeep. Since this was the first time the boys would be going in the trailer for longer than five minutes, we had to make sure that everything was secure.  I also remember that we almost forgot the most important things for the boys.. their leads!! We also had to bring water, water bowls as well as their leads. They were very excited as far as I could tell. Honey had been to the beach before so she knew the routine like the back of her paw!!

It was a rocky yet fairly short trip to the beach, Coolmain. As soon as Honey saw the beach, she grew very excited and began to move around and whine in excitement. The boys had never been to the beach before so all the smells and sights were new to them. There was a car behind us at one point and, looking back I could see smiles on their faces as it was obvious that the boys faces must have been pressed up against the grate.

At last, we reached the beach!

Once we parked the jeep, Honey started to climb over to the person that she knew would let her out onto the beach. I let her out and she ran straight over to the trailer to see the pups. Once we began to get the pups out of the trailer, their tails began to wag like crazy and they dragged us by their leads onto the beach. When we got to the beach, the pups and Honey did several things:

  • A dog was over by the water so they began to run straight to that dog,
  • The boys started to sniff and bark like crazy all over the beach.

We spent most of the day on the beach, the dogs didn’t want to leave the beach as it was their first time outside of the boundaries of our garden! The weather was starting to turn bad  so we dragged the dogs back to the trailer and packed Honey into the jeep. All of us were quite tired so in a way we were glad to be heading home. When we got home, the boys headed straight to their respective beds and Honey popped down to my bed for an evening nap!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this, I hope you enjoyed the antics of my dogs! See you next time!
