Commuters Guide To Metro Manila Ferry System

The Pasig River Ferry Service, operated by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), stands as a unique water-based transportation system within Metro Manila.

With the constant traffic jams on the roads in  the metro, this ferry service provides commuters with an alternative mode of transport, aiming to alleviate road congestion.

Efficient fleet and route

As of today, the Pasig River Ferry Service operates with a fleet comprising four boats capable of accommodating up to 52 passengers each, and one boat with a capacity of 36 passengers.

This fleet efficiently traverses the route from Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City to Escolta in Metro Manila.  It also provides the return trip, making multiple stops along the way, covering key areas in Pasig, Mandaluyong, Makati, and Manila.

Safe and reliable water-based transportation

Working like a water-based bus system, it offers a very safe and convenient mode of transportation especially since it can reduce the travel time up to half especially if your destination is just near one of the stops.

If you’re ever concerned about the safety of these boats, each watercraft is equipped with ample life jackets for everyone and has not had any untoward incident for the past 10 years.

You’d be also pleased to know that riding the ferries has been totally free of charge since 2019, which adds to the appeal of this alternative transport system.
