T-Mobile Binge On About To FireBack

T-Mobile created a lot of fuzz about their new service Binge ON, hell, it sounded awesome, free streaming, who the hell don’t want free streaming, but T-Mobile Binge On about to fireback in the company face, and here is why :

T-Mobile have highlighted what service will work on, how they gonna recognize it the streaming traffic, they even highlighted for the users it will be ON by default. According to the announcement, the service will be available for existing customer Nov 19.

 

Yesterday, I want to confirm if the Binge On actually there for existing customers or not (I have a family plan), I logged into my account, went to the profile which indicated the Binge On is ON, well , thanks God, I don’t have to do anything or that what I thought.

I tried to stream Netflix on my phone ( I never really stream any videos and i never exceeded 1 Giga Byte of Data. Once I start stream an episode, my phone indicated that my data had hit the roof (almost 1 GB), I thought that is normal, of course the phone will not recognize that but T-Mobile will.

 

An hour later when I checked my T-Mobile account, it indicated that I almost used 1 GB ? Didn’t make sense to me, so I called T-Mobile Customer service asking them about Binge ON and if it is active for my current plan ( I have 10GB Monthly ), they told me yes, but I didn’t activate it ? This is when it hit me ? What ?

 

I Mentioned to the representative that my profile indicate that my Binge ON is ON, she mentioned yes, but it is not activated ?!

 

What the … ? My follow up question was Do I need to do that for every line, and the answer was yes. To confirm the information I called T-Mobile for another line under my plan and the other representative confirmed that regardless of what your profile on Tmobile says, it is not active until you call them. Of course this will lash back badly by the end of the month when people start running out of data because T-Mobile was sneaky about activating the service.

 

If you are using T-Mobile plan that is eligible for Binge On, make sure you call them to activate it before you run off Data.
