How Do you Cut your Energy Bill in Half ?

One of the most painful bills that you can feel it pretty well in winter is your heat Bill, the number that tend to double with the first few flakes of snow. I used to live in an old house for a while and one of the most painful thing to me as a student with fixed income was to deal with the 3 digit bill every month through the winter. This bill doesn’t get any lighter with time, if anything it keep going higher as more devices are getting plugged in.

So, how can you shrink your Energy Bill ? the simple answer by not letting the cold air into your home.

Cold Air tend to find its way to your apartment through the cracks, windows, believe it or not even your home electricity sockets ( yes, they sucking your money even if you have absolutely nothing plugged into them ).

To reduce the amount of cold air that can make it through buy socket sealer and cracker insulators. They cost few bucks each but they indeed pay off.

Here are some of those tools that can use to ban the cold air off your house:

– Socket Sealers :

These handy foam Insulating seals will go inside the sockets, find each socket you have at home unscrew the cover and place it then Close the socket. If you like to feel the difference do this at night and feel the air coming out of it before u install it and after.

– Window Insulator :

Another place where your heat tend to fly is these big windows all over the house, due to the nature of the glass, they always cold in winter taking that heat out of the apartment. Use a window film to stop that heat from flying away with your money out of the window (literally).

– Sponge Tape:

This one probably is one of my favorite, not only because it can be used for multipurpose to close all type of cracks but due to its flexibility as well. I bought this the first time to actually stop the smoke that comes from my smoker neighbor into my bed room, the tape will prevent cold air as well, you can use it to close any crack.

– Door Sealer:

Fair disclaimer I have never used this one but I saw it on Amazon without standing reviews, it make sense, but since my door is one floor and my apartment is on the second, I never bothered getting it. it will close the gap between the door and the floor.
