A smart person is one who Learns from their mistakes.  They don't make the same mistake twice.

A brilliant person learns from other people's mistakes.  They only make new and different mistakes.

A stupid person makes the same mistake over and over.

When you are told about other people's failings, you are not being scolded.  You are being given the opportunity to be a brilliant person.
