2014 Tax Season Opens Soon

The IRS has recently announced that individuals and business's are allowed to start filing their 2013 tax returns on January 31, 2014. The IRS encourages individuals and tax preparers to e-file their returns and this is the quickest way to receive a refund.

As for the deadline to file these returns, the April 15 date is set by statute and will remain. However, if you can't file your return by the April 15 deadline, everyone has the option to request an automatic six-month extension.

Many people are afraid to file returns because they can't pay, don't want to pay or just get lazy. It is very important that you file your returns. One, you might get a refund. Two, the IRS charges penalties if not filed on time. Third, IRS will not work with you if all your returns are not filed.
